Roof Types
Whatever the roofing need; built-up, single-ply, metal, slate, tile, or asphalt shingle, Roofing by Ruff has the versatility in management and application capabilities to be competitive on all roofing projects. In fact, we base our success on cooperation and repeat business with the many satisfied clients that we continually produce.
Slate & Tile
Slate has historically been proven to be one of the most enduring and beautiful roofing products and when properly installed and flashed, these roofing systems can last for more than 100 years. The metal flashings and bases of these roofs must be properly formed and fitted, as poor installation can destroy the value of even the most beautiful roof. Implementing a repair and maintenance program can dramatically extend the life of a slate or tile roof.
Low Slope
Commonly specified roofing systems for most commercial and industrial buildings are low slope roofing systems. These systems require strict attention to ensure longevity, and low maintenance. Since its founding in 1939, Ruff Roofers has applied all types including single-ply, built-up and modified bitumen to hundreds of buildings throughout Key West and Southern Florida.
Sheet Metal
Beauty, durability, and low maintenance have made sheet metal one of most popular roofing systems. Metal roofing systems when properly installed are virtually maintenance free. Longevity is the hallmark of metal roofing systems, and when properly installed these systems are virtually maintenance free. Custom fabricated metal roofing can last for 100 years or longer. The fabrication and the installation of metal roofing is an art in itself, and when completed by an experienced contractor will provide the long term cost-effectiveness of sheet metal roofing systems.
Shingle Roofing
Asphalt shingles are the most common shingle used for steep sloped or pitched roofs, primarily because they offer an economical and low maintenance alternative to the more costly although longer lasting slate, wood and tile roof systems. We offer owners a wide variety of shingle colors, designs and manufacturers from which to choose. Today’s asphalt shingles are either organic or fiberglass and the higher end architectural shingle adds increased dimension to the roof and can even mimic slate or cedar. Shingle roofs generally offer a 20-50 year warranty; however, like any other roofing system, quality installation will ensure a longer life.
Cedar Shakes
Timeless, traditional and eco- friendly, cedar roof systems are long lasting and visually appealing. When installed properly and maintained they can last up to 50 years. Cedar shingles are perfect for any climate, because the make up of wood acts as a natural insulation keeping your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Cedar shingles are more impact and wind resistant then most other forms of steep roofing, and when installed properly they can withstand up to 160 mph winds.
Single-Ply Membrane
Single-ply roof systems issue robustness, flexibility, and resilient durability for most commercial projects. Characterized into two groups: Thermosets and Thermoplastics. Both compounded synthetic materials that are pre-fabricated sheets that are highly flexible and resistant to UV raditation.
Built-up Asphalt
Built-Up Asphalt roofing is the most commonly used on low-slope roofs composed of layers of bitumen surfaces with final layer of coating. Ultimate waterproofing option because of the numerous layers providing years of protection from elements. Low-life cost maintenance system making it an economic investment.
Green Roof
Green roofs are built on partially or completely covered vegetation over a waterproofing membrane. Green roofs serve several purposes for a building, such as absorbing rainwater, providing insulation, creating a habitat for wildlife, increasing and decreasing stress. They also will help keep your building cooler which results in substantial savings on your energy costs per year. More importantly green roofs extend the life with protection from ultra-violet rays and physical damage.
Coating
Roof coatings are the most effective and least costly option to help your building save time, money, and energy. Roof coatings are applied to low slope roofs on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to extend the life of your roof. They are a great alternative for receiving an extra 15-20 years out of your roof than having to do a full replacement. Roof coatings are environmentally friendly as well, reducing the amount of waste contributed to landfills. Other benefits are the installation is much lower impact than tearing off and installing a new roof. Just think of the time and frustration saved by being able keep your home or business running normally without any construction noises and distractions to bother you or your employees.
